About our industry research
While the main focus of GAZ Research is educational teach-ins, we also produce industry research on a wide range of topics relevant to property-casualty insurance.
In our research we use numerous government and other externally sourced databases, including the National Centers for Environmental Information’s billion-dollar weather and climate database, FEMA’s National Risk Index for Natural Hazards, and NOAA’s Storm Events Database. We have reformatted this data for our own use and often link this information to state, county, and metropolitan statistical area (MSA) population statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau. This approach is designed to provide insights into various strategic and tactical steps for insurers and the data can be reconfigured to develop answers to specific queries from outside observers. Contact us today to learn more!
In addition to information from these external sources we maintain our own databases. One is a 70-year history of the property-casualty industry that includes 50 years of by-line data from A.M. Best, while another is a 100-year history of hurricanes using NOAA information. We use these often in our research.
